Homegrown Thoughts

Notes on the ordinary and extraordinary events and thoughts in the life of a homeschooling mom of two boys who happens to be slightly addicted to the Internet and all there is to discover there.

  • …and….it looks like we’re back! Unfortunately, I have nothing worthwhile to say. #
  • My Internet went out *again* last night. It came back sometime this morning. I’m glad I didn’t have to wait until tomorrow for service. #
  • Oh, and I’m currently waging World War XVII against the ants. This time they found their way to the pantry… #
  • …PopTarts seem to be the only casualties on our side. The opposition’s forces have been crippled, but their reinforcements are plentiful. #
  • So I get my Internet back and Twitter has done a number on me. 1 following/3 followers. I hope it will fix itself soon, I miss all my peeps! #
  • My Internet went out again, so I’m at the library. I now realize that my laptop is VERY HEAVY. #
  • Hopefully won’t be here long, just have to let some people know I’m out of commission - again - and look up a couple things. #

  • Finally! Internet out the whole day, it went out before I even got up this morning. Sheer torture! I almost ran out of things to clean. #
  • @HeatherIdoni I’m back! I almost called you, I was having withdrawals so bad, but didn’t want to prove *somebody* right re: web addiction. #
  • I don’t know what to do first…got caught up on Twitter now, have 300+ rss waiting for me and I was getting ready to play super monkey ball #
  • I also watched “Juno” today. I really liked it, although I hesitate to fully recommend it due to the subject matter and language. #
  • @monicabrand I’m on a Lapbooking one there and I think an ImprovEverywhere one. There might be one more but I can’t think yet this morning. #
  • If it were possible to die of embarrassment, my family would be planning my funeral right now. #
  • I’m finally caught up on the website I administer for somebody else until she gives me more to do. It won’t be long. :-) #
  • My fat cat just walked on my chest and I’m not sure how I escaped without a cracked rib. Why can’t he lay next to me instead of walk ON me? #

  • Very excited my friend @HeatherIdoni is now on Twitter! #
  • @HeatherIdoni Yeah, you’d better play or I’ll just let you run out of time… #
  • Doing a victory lap around @HeatherIdoni. Yeah, I won Scrabble, I sure did. #

  • @webboy Our gazebo took a hit. One side down. At least it was the last year we were going to use it anyway. #
  • The last day is missing from my Twitter feed. It goes from ‘about 23 hours ago’ to ‘3 minutes ago’. I feel cheated. #
  • @webboy I have no idea - stuff showing up randomly on my twitter page and I only saw it on FF, still not on my twitter. Reply is on twit tho #
  • @BrettTrout Part of my back yard is covered in mulberries. I’m having trouble getting over the thought of eating stems. :-P #
  • SNACK & STACK (LEGO-like) http://tinyurl.com/5oycy7 - These are cool! I have no idea where to get them, but my kids would love them. #
  • @BrettTrout Yes, the parts of my yard not covered in mulberries are covered in the, uh, remnants of mulberries. I am not amused. #

My Week in Photos

THIS is not good:

Gazebo injury
Gazebo damage

In fact, it’s quite sad…

Poor gazebo!
Poor Gazebo!

Added insult to injury:

What is this??
What is this??

Yeah, so that was quite a storm we had last night.  Fortunately we had already decided this was the last year we’d be using this gazebo as it was getting worn out. Between the damage from another big storm and this new stuff from last night, the thing is pretty much pathetic.  Now I have to hold out for the new deck and hopefully some kind of shade-giving roof being built next summer.

Hopefully THIS will be good:

Raspberry Buckle
Raspberry Buckle just put in the oven

My first attempt at using some of the raspberries I picked from our yard. It smells awesome. If it tastes good, I’ll post the recipe. :-)

THIS child is growing up way too fast:

My baby!!!
My baby!!!

If that cake looks a little…flat…it is. B doesn’t like cake, so he got birthday brownies instead. He also insisted on decorating it himself because, “Explaining how I want it will be too hard, it’ll be easier if I just do it myself.” Talk about having your own words thrown back at you! A little control freak in training.  Here is his creation, which he said was not really how he pictured it in his head but is good enough (whew, not as much of a perfectionist as mom…yet!):

Birthday Brownies
Birthday Brownies

Notice the “10″ in candles. TEN! This was a traumatic birthday for Mom here.  9…ok, halfway to 18 but barely an adult. But TEN. That’s halfway to the age I was when I got married.  I’m not halfway done with him yet!  Somebody slow this life stuff down a little, would ya?  It’s all going way too fast for me.

By the way, if anybody wants to wish B a happy birthday, please visit his blog and leave him a comment.  He loves comments!

THIS animal is way too fat!!

No, my head isn't small...the rest of me is just huge!!
No, my head isn’t tiny - the rest of me is just huge!

That’s it for this week’s photo gallery.  I’m still nursing my pinched nerve so typing a lot is not fun. I’m glad I had some pics to share instead!
